Book of Mormon Symposium & Fireside

Last Friday & Saturday, March 7 & 8, we had a Book of Mormon Symposium for all the members of the different churches that believe in the Book of Mormon.  Here is Elder Atwood with Dr. Lynn Ridenhour who is a Southern Baptist minister who has been preaching from the Bible and the Book of Mormon for the last twenty-eight years.  He said he knew the book was true and the word of God when he read the first page.  It has more passages in it about Jesus Christ than the Bible.  Both books are here to testify of Jesus Christ our Savior of all mankind.  He loves the Book of Mormon!

This is Ralph Damon, the President of the quorum of twelve Apostles of the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He hosted the meeting on Saturday.  BYU under Presiding Stake President Cato, hosted it Friday evening.  Members and Professors spoke.  It was nice to see people of faith who love the Book of Mormon.

This is Dr. Robert Millet, the concluding speaker.  He just retired from BYU where he has taught for many years.  He has been teaching the gospel over 40 years.  He is a foremost authority on Religious Studies and a teacher we both love to hear from at BYU Education Week.  We hope he will still continue his classes there.

Then, on Sunday evening we had our regular fireside where we listen to Mission President, Keyes, and different new converts.  This is Sister Barbara Backman with the two Sister Missionaries who taught her.  Her brother had married a Mormon and they were going to the Temple to be married for time and all eternity.  She had studied and looked for the truth for many years.  She had recently gone through a terrible divorce and was ready to turn her heart over to the Lord.  In prayer she said, "I'm in your hands.  I'll do whatever you want."  She began learning about our church.  She read the Book of Mormon and knew it was real!  It answered all her questions.  So, she was just baptized.

This is Sister Wilson and her husband.  He was baptized as a child about 10 years old.  But he didn't attend or know about his church.  She was always looking for a religion for her.  She studied with the Jehovah Witnesses for three years, going to Bible Study every Monday.  But her questions weren't answered.  She still wanted to know more.  Then, she met the missionaries and began learning about the Mormons.  Guess what?  Her husband's church was where she found the truth!  She testifies that the church has saved her marriage and her life!  She loves it and is so happy.
